We looked at picture book illustrations and studied the different types of lines illustrators use to create their images. We were inspired by Pat Hutchin's drawings of Rosie the hen and the fox and how she had used lines to create her characters, the background and movement in the pages of the book. Lines of Inquiry 1. Colours can contrast and compliment each other(Function) 2. How artists use colour in abstract art We inquired into the abstract art style of artist Pacita Abad. She is best known in Singapore as the artist who painted the Alkaff bridge at Roberson Quay. Her works include collages and abstract paintings using warm colours, shapes and space. Grade 1 has been exploring LINES as one of the elements of art. They used and described the different types of lines in their sketches. The enduring understanding was a famous quote by artist Paul Klee.. Grade 1’s beautiful sketches are now on display on the bulletin boards along the stairs. Using you body to make lines is fun.
